Germany's dual system of vocational education and training is highly recognized worldwide due to its combination of theory in the classroom and training in a real-life work environment. The main characteristic of the dual system is cooperation between mainly small and medium sized companies, on the one hand, and publicly funded vocational schools, on the other.
Trainees in the dual system typically spend part of each week at a vocational school and the other part at a company. Dual training usually lasts two to three-and-a-half years. Salary from min. 620 euros per month in the first year of training, which rises every year by at least 15-20%.
Dual training in Germany is in the social, commercial, medical, industrial-technical, craft or other sector possible.
